Yummy Fried Green Tomatoes


Do ya wanna know what’t the best southern snack in the world?  Well, at least according to me??

Fried Green Tomatoes!

I just love eating them, especially first thing out of the skillet.  They are just soooo good, and very simple to make.  Add a little of Frank’s red hot to the mix, and these are banging!

With just a handful of ingredients – corn meal, eggs, salt, garlic powder and pepper, canola oil, and of course your fresh green tomatoes, you too can enjoy this super easy and quick side dish / snack / meal.  I don’t know who ever came up with this fabulous idea way back when but, I thank them for it!! 😉

  1. Slice your tomatoes about 1/2 inch thick.
  2. Season your tomatoes with black pepper, sea salt, and garlic powder to your preference.
  3. After heating your oil on medium heat, dip your tomatoes into the beaten egg and then dredge into your cornmeal. Carefully place into your hot oil one by one.
  4. Cook in oil for about 3 minutes on each side or until golden brown and slightly tender (fork can easily go through but does not break the slice of tomato apart).
  5. Remove from oil and let drain on a paper towel covered plate.
