I started becoming more knowledgeable about the large term of breast cancer, which actually refers to any type of cancer that develops in any part of the breast tissue, when I first found out my grandmother died from the disease. I was effected personally three more times more recently – first, when my mom was diagnosed, then a co-worker lost her fight, and lastly when my own breast cancer specialist had first found a tumor in my right breast. I am only 37. For these reasons, I feel it is very important that ALL women check themselves regularly for any changes to their breasts, and to see their doctors regularly whenever possible for the earliest detection possible. When dealing with someone with depression, it is imperative that you think before you speak and are careful with your intentions with anyone with this serious medical illness. Most people will feel down at some points of time in our lives, but there are also many of us that struggle with this common, yet major depressive disorder on a day to day basis, myself included. I have tried to keep my circle small in the last few years, in order to keep only the most positive influences in my life around me. We cannot expect everyone to be understanding of what we are going through though. There are many people including friends and family who do not understand the seriousness of this condition. They choose to not care, nor will they have the best interests for you. I have learned that when these people refuse to acknowledge how you need to live your life for the better of your own health and in order to have less stress in it, it’s best that you distance yourself from them whenever possible in order to protect your own sanity.

A great night’s sleep. At some point in time, all of us will experience struggling with our sleep habits. Last night was actually a bad night for me. It seemed every hour on the hour, I was waking up and having a hard time getting any rest at all. I’m sure that the fact that there was a mountain of stress involved had very much to do with why I was tossing and turning all night long, but at least I understand why it happened to me last night and I also know what I can do to prevent it from happening more frequently then I like.
