9 Trips I’ve Got To Make – My Current Travel Bucket List

Me at the Base of Eiffel Tower.

I’m currently 37 years old, and I have gotten the travel bug.  I have been quite a few places within the United States of America already, but only a handful overseas.  I’ve got a lot to catch up to, many places I want to visit, and not enough money to just get up and go!  I figure that I will be checking these places off my bucket list slowly, one destination at a time… But I definitely will complete it.  Check out my list and tell me what you think!

Now, I have already been to London once already… But, I REALLY need to go back.  You see, my first time there I  participated in all the normal tours – of Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, Trafalgar Square, the London Eye etc.  Now I need to see all of the interesting places that are kinda off the grid, like the Alnwick Garden.  Plus, I miss the authentic fish and chips 😉

Things to do:

  • Buckingham Palace
  • Tower of London
  • Hyde Park
  • St. Pauls Catherdral
  • Westminster Abbey

Paris, France is also another location that I have already visited.  But yes, here as well I MUST return.  The first time I went to the city of Love, it wasn’t so romantic.  The next time around, I want to be with those whom I love the most.  Also, I missed out on visiting the Louvre during my first go around, and I have to right that wrong!!

Things to do:

  • Effiel Tower
  • The Louvre
  • Notre Dame
  • Arc De Triomphe
  • Tuileries Garden

The land of love🇬🇭

Ahh… my connection with the motherland.  A few years ago I took a couple of ancestry tests and I found out that much of my maternal ancestry is from Ghana and Cameroon.  Since then I have felt a obligation to step foot on that land where my bloodline is from, and also visit the Elmina Castles where many men, women and children were shipped off to the Americas to be sold as slaves.  This is not the only reason I feel the need to go – there was once a time where I was very close to a Ghanaian.  Our distancing was entirely my fault, and I still put myself down for walking away from one of a few beautiful relationships that only come once in a lifetime.  I already know that our friendship will never be repaired and I would never be forgiven for how I disappeared, but before I close my eyes for the last time, I still want to see the place where such beautiful souls like his, reside.  Because of the connection I feel with my ancestors, Ghana will always be home away from home.

Things to do:

  • Elmina Castle
  • Cape Coast Castle
  • Kakum National Park
  • Aburi Botanical Gardens
  • National Museum of Ghana

Egypt!!!  Who would not want to visit one of the original, ancient 7 wonders of the World.  I have always been fascinated by that classic list, and the Pyramid of Giza is the only one left to exist today.

Things to do:

  • Great Sphinx of Giza
  • Luxor Temple
  • Valley of the Kings
  • Mount Sinai
  • Aswam Dam

I don’t even know where to start with this destination… perhaps the food?  What about the architecture?  The beautiful land??  Oh, and the shopping!  Italy is a MUST!!

Things to do:

  • Colosseum
  • Leaning Tower of Pisa
  • Trevi Fountain
  • Florence Cathedral
  • Pantheon
